Update:Diving Accident on the Conecuh River in Covington County
The Covington County Sheriff's office says there was a diving accident earlier today on the Conecuh River near the Hart's Bridge Road. Sunday afternoon, officers were reporting the incident as a "near-drowning" investigation.
According to witnesses a 27 year-old man from Andalusia was spear fishing on the Conecuh River with friends when the air hose from his dive equipment malfunctioned.
The victim was transported to the Andalusia Hospital and is currently in stable condition.
The incident is still under investigation.
CBS-8 News has learned of a possible drowning in the Conecuh River.
The Covington County Sheriff's Office will not confirm if someone drowned, but says it is investigating a near-drowning. Chief Deputy David Anderson says the near drowning happened by Harts Bridge Road, off of Brooklyn Road near the county line.
This is an ongoing investigation so the Covington County Sheriff's Office will not release any other information at this time. CBS-8 News will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
