Possible Sales Tax Increase In Andalusia

Tools

By Catalina Trivino

Shoppers in Andalusia could see a big hike in the city sales tax in the coming weeks...Currently, Andalusia's share of the sales tax is 2 cents, but the city is considering increasing it to 3.5 cents. That would mean shoppers would pay a total of 9.5 percent sales tax.

City leaders want to dedicate half a penny to Andalusia City Schools and one cent to help matching funds in grants for future city improvements.

The council will vote later this month and if it's approved, the new sales tax would go into effect July 1st.
