In Georgiana, police say they are seeing a rise in under aged Spring Breakers traveling with alcohol.
Over the past two weeks, Georgiana police say they have taken thousands of dollars worth of alcohol from under aged teens at traffic stops on their way to Spring Break, making more than 30 arrests. They say there is a rise in the amount of alcohol they are finding, and they hope by making the arrests and preventing teens from taking the alcohol with them on break, it could save a life.
"The large amount of alcohol that we've recovered from them, getting down to Destin or Panama City where ever their destination is, and just consuming too much alcohol getting alcohol poisoning or worse, we're just looking out for their safety," says Jason Blue, a Georgiana Police Department Investigator.
Police say they are not sure why there is rise in the amount of alcohol they are finding and warn parents to talk with their teens about the peer pressures of drinking.
