South Alabama District Attorney Announces Retirement

From the CBS 8 South Alabama Newsroom-- CBS 8 News is covering Butler County where 2nd Circuit District Attorney, John Andrews, is retiring.

John Andrews spent nearly 11 years serving as D.A. in Butler, Crenshaw and Lowndes Counties.

He tells CBS 8 it was "about time to retire" but after a recent health scare and surgery, he made the decision a few months sooner.

Charlotte Tesmer has been appointed as the new district attorney. Before practicing defense law locally, she spent time as an assistant D.A. in the district.
