Assistant Pike County District Attorney Chris Kaminski tells the Dothan Eagle

36-year-old Andre Lamon Ellis III was sentenced Wednesday on two counts of rape and one count of burglary. The man was convicted of all three charges in January.

Authorities say Ellis broke into a woman's house in a mobile home park and assaulted her in March 2012. Officials say later that day, he raped a woman who was in the area visiting a relative.

Kaminski says prosecutors asked for a life sentence without parole. The man's attorney, Jon Taylor, says the defense asked for a reasonable sentence and has filed a request for a new trial.
