CHHS Band Adds Top Trophy to CollectionFrom the CBS 8 Troy Newsroom-- A high school band in Troy takes home top honors at a national competition. Charles Henderson High School's Blue Machine band placed first in the World Strides Heritage Competition in St. Louis.
The band also received a gold rating and voted most outstanding. "We are from such a small town, so to bring back something so big it meant a lot," says Lauren Post who won an individual achievement award. Members say this is the first time they've won the top trophy. "It definitely got a lot of excitement from within the band, and we are getting a lot of more people who are wanting to rejoin that dropped out earlier. We're just really excited and can't wait for next year," says member Micah Johnson. The blue machine has also been invited to perform at the Festival of Gold in Washington D.C.
