The state fire marshal has issued a cease and desist order to the Troy Veterans Center.

The fire marshal's office says they found a number of fire and safety code violations during an inspection.

They say the center must close until they can come into compliance.

DHR officials say residents who are living in the center are being transferred to other facilities.

The fire marshal won't say what the violations were, but says the codes are in place to protect the public.

According to Troy Mayor Jason Reeves, the city of Troy assisted the state in moving people out of the facility last night. And that issues were brought to the city's attention and they notified the state to look into.

Mayor Reeves also said that this is a privately owned facility.
