City of Troy Passes New Litter Ordinance

By Alabama News Network

The City of Troy is cracking down on litter.

The council passed the new ordinance that doubles the length of the old one.  The "Keep Troy Beautiful" group brought the changes to the council. It adds more definition and clarity to the litter ordinance, making it easier to enforce.

Cigarette butts are one of the most littered items in the United States, so they've been added to the definition of littering.

If you break the ordinance, you could be looking at a fine.
