Keeping Kids Safe By the PoolFrom the CBS 8 Troy Newsroom-- The community pool at the Troy Parks and Recreation Center is now open, and employees are expecting several hundred people to dive in this Memorial Day Weekend. Studies show drowning kills more children between the ages of one and four than any other cause except birth defects, and half are said to die in swimming pools. The Red Cross says swimming lessons are the number one life saver, but it's also important to always keep an eye on your child. "We have a lot lounge chairs for people to work on their tans and watch their kids. We are very proud of our lifeguards. We have a lot of lifeguards on duty, so it's very safe and a clean facility," says Troy Parks and Recreation Director Dan Smith. |
