Troy's Boys and Girls club receives a generous donation today.

Pike County Commission presented a $10,000 check. The club currently helps about 45 children after school each day. The money will help fund their after school programs, like tutoring and homework help. The commission saw the donation as a way to show their hard work is being noticed.

Pike County Commission Chairman Homer Wright said, "I came by one night they were having a meeting and they were so disciplined, that I feel like they were doing a good job...Kids today need a place to go when they get out of school."

Organizers hope the club will continue to expand, they are planning a membership drive around Halloween.  They are targeting the elementary school and are also trying to get one-way transportation from school to the club.
