Multiple sex offenders are back in jail after a crackdown in Pike County.

The Pike County Sheriff's Office, Troy Police Department, U.S. Marshals service, and Alabama Bureau of Investigations officials spent days doing a random check on all 89 sex offenders in the county.

Seven arrests were made, but investigators say more could follow. Two of the arrested, Samuel Parks and William Sheffield were allegedly illegally living with a minor.

The others- Jimmy Wilkerson, Arthur Wilson, Curtis Starks and Kenny Wilson were not complying with Alabama sex offender laws. Some of the violations, according to investigators, include not living at the address registered, living too close to a daycare or school, and moving without permission.

The sheriff's office says they aim to check on sex offenders at least once a year. Pike County Investigator Troy Johnson said, "When you have that many sex offenders and we are not a small department but we are not a large department either. But with the help of the marshals and troy police department and ABI, we can get it done."
