From the CBS 8 Troy Newsroom-- Troy Parks and Recreation is inviting the community to discuss a new upcoming park and playground that will be handicap accessible.

A town hall meeting is being held in the Rec Center at  6 p.m. on Thursday.

Project Coordinators say the park will be near the current walking trail.

They say their goal is to raise $150,000, but if they can raise more, they will build a dog park, pavilion, picnic areas and expand the walking trails."The focus of this project is the playground," says Troy Parks and Recreation Director Dan Smith. "With this playground, when you see it, you will think it's just a regular playground, but children in wheel chairs and walkers will be able access every bit of the playground."

If you would like to help out, call Smith at (334) 566-4031.

The city of Troy, Troy University, the Troy Miracle League and Troy Exchange Club are working together to raise the money for the project.

The park is set to open the summer of 2013.
