A Troy Firefighter is the winner of Crown Royal's "Your Hero's Name Here" Contest. He received naming rights to a NASCAR Race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Hundreds of friends and community members came out to see who won Crown Royal's National Contest. Curtiss Shaver says he was shocked and humbled when he saw his name roll off the banner.

Troy Firefighter Curtiss Shaver says he couldn't believe it.

"It just seems too large for a guy like me from Troy, Alabama," says Shaver.

In May, Shaver found out he was one of five finalists in Crown Royal's "Your Hero's Name Here" Contest. After hearing his story of overcoming a tragic farming accident that claimed his left leg, thousands of people from across the nation voted for Shaver.

And in a special ceremony with guests including country singer Justin Moore, Shaver received the news that the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series on July 29 will now be named Curtiss Shaver 400 at the Brickyard.

"A lot of people connected in this community with my story, and they put out the effort," says Shaver. "They were really dedicated to that voting and I'm appreciative of everyone of them."

Shaver will also get to ride in the pre-race car, deliver the trophy to the winner and kiss the bricks following the race.

Shaver says all five finalists are winners and can't want to thank them for their service at the race on July 29th.
