Troy Police Investigate Animal Cruelty Case
By Jessica Gertler

Troy Police are investigating an animal cruelty case involving several horses.

Police say a man left three horses and feed with a suspect to take care of them while he was overseas.

They say when the man returned earlier this week, he discovered the suspect had allegedly neglected to take care of them.

Investigators say two of the horses were very malnourished, and one was dead

Police say a judge issued a court order to remove four other horses from the property on Pike County Road 2294 and Smart Road in Troy.

They are now being housed at an undisclosed location, and a veterinarian has been asked to treat the horses.

Today, police have issued six warrants for cruelty to animals.

The identity of the suspect has not been released pending arrest.
