From the CBS 8 Troy Newsroom-- Troy Police are looking for whoever is involved in a shooting over the weekend at a bar on Highway 231.

According to the incident report, the shooting happened outside Star Cafe around 1:45 Sunday morning. Neighbors say the incident has them fearing for their safety.

Troy Police say a 28-year-old is in critical condition in Birmingham after he was shot in the neck in the Star Cafe parking lot on Sunday. Police say the altercation started inside the bar, but escalated outside after security told them to leave.

"It kind of scares me a little bit," says Coley Sansom, who works at Sansom Repair and Equipment next door.

A feeling Sansom says he's had for a while.

"We've had bullets come through our building actually before. It kind of concerns me. I've actually had to go get my pistol license, because I'm scared for myself," he says.

Police say they are still looking for the suspect involved in the shooting. They say he was last scene running into the woods behind the building.

"Our purpose is to arrest the perpetrator in this case, and to put that individual in jail," says Sgt. Benny Scarbrough with Troy Police. "Our investigation, I would hope, would bring some satisfaction and peace around that area."

Sansom says he hopes this case is solved soon, because the last thing he wants is for his customers to feel unsafe.

"We do have a lot of truckers that park out here at night, and it kind of concerns me that something is going to happen to them as well," he says.

We did try calling Star Cafe, but the number listed in the phone book has been disconnected.

Alcoholic Beverage Control agents say in the past two years, they've made arrests at this establishment for underage drinking and for marijuana being sold inside.

Police need your help in solving this case. If you have any information, please call Troy Police at (334) 566-0500.
