From the CBS 8 Troy Newsroom-- Several Troy University athletic programs may be receiving major upgrades.
While plans are still on the table, Troy University officials say they are getting closer to raising enough money to start upgrading and expanding several athletic facilities.
Big plans are in the works for several Troy University athletic programs.
Recently the school announced that its $30 million shy of its $200 million capital campaign goal. Once reached, the school will invest in various programs on several campuses including sports.
"We have a lot of goals from football to our dressing room and coaching office facilities. Those things that we want to expand and make better," says Athletic Director Steve Dennis.
Dennis says there are plans to expand the North end zone in the Veterans Memorial Football Stadium, but he says it won't stop there. Dennis is hoping to upgrade the school's track, softball field, tennis courts and golf course.
"Bottom line is competition and recruiting good kids, and hopefully those will help with new facilities. It's about kids wanting to be in a great institution which Troy is," he says.
This summer, the football stadium will be getting new turf, and the practice field will see some improvements.
You can help speed up the process on these future projects by becoming a member of Trojan booster club or donating to the capital campaign.

The last time the Trojan football program received a major upgrade was in 2003 when the stadium tower was expanded.
