From the CBS 8 West Alabama Newsroom -- Thousands of people from across the nation joined in Selma today, to retrace the steps of the historic 1965 Bloody Sunday march.

A sea of people marched the Edmund Pettus bridge this afternoon, to remember and honor strides made when civil rights marchers walked the same route some 45 years ago.

"It's a kind of victory, it's a victory of all of America. What was then a civil rights movement, became a healing for the whole country," said the Rev. Jesse Jackson on Sunday.
