From the CBS 8 West Alabama Newsroom--  Authorities make an arrest in the fatal shooting of a Dallas County man at a night spot in the Minter community.

Sheriff Harris Huffman says 34 year old Rockel Hardy of Pine Apple has been arrested in the shooting and charged with first-degree murder.

Huffman says Hardy shot J.C. Gaines of Minter multiple times after a fight at Benny's Place in Minter escalated into gunfire.

"The victim, Mr. Gaines, and Mr. Hardy got into a verbal altercation, then a physical altercation, then Mr. Hardy went to a parked automobile and retrieved a 22-caliber assault rifle and shot Mr. Gaines several times which resulted in his death," said Huffman.

He said Hardy is being held in the Dallas County Jail on a 2 million dollar bond and the shooting remains under investigation.
