Cahaba Road Re-Paving Project Set to Start in Selma

By George McDonald

From the West Alabama Newsroom--  Getting across town in Selma is expected to get a lot less convenient for motorists after the Labor Day weekend.

City officials say that's when a repaving project on Cahaba Road is set to start. They say Cahaba Road is one of the city's two remaining east-west corridors. The Dallas Avenue east-west corridor is closed to through traffic -- while the Valley Creek bridge is being replaced.

"I don't anticipate it being a long drawn out affair, it's just going to be some minor inconveniences for everyone," said Ward 3 City Councilman Greg Bjelke. "And I want everyone to be patient, maybe take an alternate route, meet some new neighbors and we can all get through this together."

The Cahaba Road re-paving project will cost the city about a hundred and twenty thousand dollars.
