Central Alabama Fair Packs Ecomonic Impact
From the CBS 8 West Alabama Newsroom-- The 56th annual Central Alabama Fair is underway this week in Selma-- and it means more to the community than just ferris wheels and funnel cakes.
The Central Alabama Fair draws big crowds-- and generates big money every year.
But the economic impact it has on the community is greater than most people know.
The fair is presented by the Selma Lion's Club.
Club President Scott Haskell says ninety percent of the revenue generated by the fair is used to help support about a dozen local groups and charities.
"We want people to come out here and we want them to come out here and enjoy the fair but know that all that money that they're spending here is going to come right back to the city we don't keep any, all we keep is that ten percent and that again is for the next year's fair," said Haskell.
The Central Alabama Fair runs through Saturday, October 6th.
