City of Selma Prepares for Battle

From the CBS 8 West Alabama Newsroom-- Final preparations for Selma's second-largest annual tourist event of the year-- are nearly complete.

The annual Battle of Selma Civil War Reenactment is only two weeks away.

Organizers say they're putting the finishing touches on all the arrangements for the event.

They say the battlefield is ready -- and registration is underway for re-enactors and tours.

The Battle of Selma features nearly a dozen separate events -- highlighted by two Civil War battle re-enactments.

"This year we're going to have something new down at school days, the National Civil War Naval Museum down in Columbus, they'll have a contingent of folks down there with artifacts from the museum and they will be one of the living history stations that the school groups come through and see.">

The Battle of Selma runs from April 26th through 29th.
