From the CBS 8 West Alabama Newsroom--  A Dallas County Sheriff's Deputy is in the right place, at the right time to save the life of a seven month old baby.

Michael Hannah says she was driving home one night about two weeks ago-- when she realized her grandson was in the back seat choking.

She says when she pulled over-- she saw something caught in his throat-- but couldn't get it out.

"Just so happened the deputy pulled up and he was able to take the baby and extract the piece from his mouth and help him," she said.

Deputy David Odom says his training kicked in and he's glad he was there to help.
