A Dallas County woman is thankful to be alive after her car is swept away by the rushing waters of a flooding creek.

Miriam Cook of Valley Grande says she was driving south on Highway 41 on her way to work at around three this morning when it happened.

“I was just like completely scared, like I say, it was dark, I’m the only one on the road, everything went down with the car, the cell phone, everything,” she said.

She says she managed to climb out of her car just before it went under water and was able to grab hold of a nearby tree until help arrived.
