Election Season Heating Up in Selma

From the CBS 8 West Alabama Newsroom-- The political season is really starting to heat up in Selma. Candidates began qualifying this week and campaigning is starting to shift into high gear.

Incumbent Mayor George Evans is facing a strong challenge from former Mayor James Perkins in a rematch of the 2008 election.

Visibility among the candidates has started to increase with campaign signs going up all over the city.

The qualifying period for candidates to sign up to run-- ends July 17th.

The municipal election is August 28th.
