Last Day of School for Five Points Elementary in OrrvilleFrom the CBS 8 West Alabama Newsroom-- Another school year came to a close in Dallas County Thursday but for one elementary school it was literally the last day of school. The Dallas County School Board voted to close Five Points Elementary School in Orrville in an effort to cut costs. Five Points served students from 3rd through 6th grades-- but saw a steady decline in student population over the past few years. "Like I told the children today, Five Points doors and the physical building is closing but I hope they carry with them some of the values and skills and academic success that we tried to instill in each child," said principal Lou Ella Guthridge. Area students from K thru 5th grades will go to Salem Elementary in Orrville in the fall. Sixth Graders will go to Keith High School. Most Viewed |
