From the West Alabama Newsroom--  Construction of the new Golden Dragon Copper plant in Wilcox County is nearly finished.

Officials say weather and immigration issues caused some delays but the plant is now set to open at the end of the month.

They say crews are putting the finishing touches on the new facility and one production line is already up and running and producing copper tubing.

"We've got over a hundred employees now working in the plant," said Wilcox Co. Industrial Development Authority Executive Director George Alford. "The plan is they'll have the first two lines open and running together and then later we'll do the third line."

The plant's grand opening is May 28th. Governor Robert Bentley and G-D Copper officials from China are scheduled to attend.
