The Selma City Council may take up the issue of the Confederate Circle and Nathan Bedford Forrest monument improvements next week. The statue in Live Oak Cemetery has been the focus of protests because Forrest, a Confederate General in the Civil War, was also a founder of the KKK.

The council may discuss the issue, or may not, in which case the dispute may end up in court.

The monument is supposed to replace a statue of Forrest that was stolen earlier this year. No charges have been filed  and the statue remains missing.
