The Selma Police Department opens a new precinct in the GWC Homes.

The precinct has room for seven police officers.
Police Chief William Riley hopes the new precinct will reduce crime in the area-- and expand community policing efforts.

"That's what community policing is all about-- getting the police back into the community, making the community feel safer with the police actively involved with them and this will definitely help us in that endeavor," he said.

Riley says the department is planning to add more precincts around the city.
