From the West Alabama Newsroom-- A concerned citizens group in Selma is calling for three school board members to step down -- now that the findings of a state investigation of the school system has been made public.
Members of a group called -- Parents Against Corrupt Officials -- began picketing in front of the Selma City School District central office this morning.
They say the demonstration is in response to the findings of a state investigation of the school system.
The group is calling for the resignation of three school board members who voted against a call to conduct a full independent investigation of the system after a Selma High teacher was arrested on sex charges involving students.
"It's clear to me that the people we have in charge now are, some of them are not capable of doing the right thing and so I think with the state coming in to take over may be our only hope," said P.A.C.O. member Dee Henderson.
School officials say the district is working on a corrective plan of action and plan to submit it to the state -- next week.
