Selma City Council Shuts Down Nightclub

From the CBS 8 West Alabama Newsroom-- The Selma nightclub where one man was killed-- and five other people were shot-- is shut down by the Selma City Council.

The council voted to revoke the business license at Club Entourage at a special called meeting tonight.

Police Chief William Riley recommended the club be closed as a matter of public safety.

He listed dozens of 9-1-1 calls for assistance at the club over the past few years-- and instances of drugs and juveniles being found inside of the club.

The club is shutdown is effective immediately.

"Justice served. We're going to respect the vote of the council," said Club Entourage owner Clyde Richardson.

City officials say Richardson can re-apply for a new business license after a year.
