Update:Selma Man Guilty in 2008 Grocery Store StabbingA Selma man is convicted of first-degree assault in a 2008 stabbing at a Selma grocery store. Robert Fitts, Jr. of Selma was on trial for attempted murder this week-- but a jury found him guilty of felony assault instead. The verdict was reached Friday morning after about three hours of deliberation. Fitts was convicted of stabbing Eldred Fuller inside the Winn-Dixie on Dallas Avenue after an apparent case of road rage. Fitts stabbed Fuller in the stomach after the two men began arguing inside the store. Dallas County Assistant District Attorney Vernetta Perkins was the lead prosecutor in the case. "I feel very pleased with the verdict, I think it was fair, I think it was just and the victim is pleased with the verdict, I think justice has been served today. "I'm just pleased. Ready to put everything behind me and move on with my life," said stabbing victim Eldred Fuller. Fitts will be sentenced in about a month and could get up to 20 years in prison. Most Viewed
