State Troopers Gear Up for Footwash Festival Near Uniontown
From the West Alabama Newsroom-- The Annual Footwash Festival in near Uniontown is a little more than a week away -- and the Department of Public Safety is gearing up for another year of providing security at the 125 year old event.
"We do a lot of extensive planning on behalf of the Department of Public Safety to make sure everything is in place for us to carry out our mission," said Capt. Agatha Windsor.
The festival had gained a reputation as an event where anything goes. The trooper presence at the event over the past few years has helped to tone it down.
"I think it is a wonderful thing that they came down, I say they were God sent," said Footwash Historian Ora Burk.
