Wilcox Co. Residents Concerned Hospital May Close
From the CBS 8 West Alabama Newsroom-- Concerns are growing in Wilcox County about the possibility that J. Paul Jones Hospital in Camden could soon be closing.
Wilcox County residents passed a three mill tax increase about three years ago-- to help keep the hospital open.
Hospital board chairman George Alford says some changes are possible at the hospital-- but there are NO plans to shut it down.
"We're doing everything we can to keep the hospital open, it may not be in the exact same form,” said Alford.
“Last fiscal year 4500 emergency room visits, we had over 7000 outpatient services, that's X-rays and lab work, and we had 212 patients for the year in the hospital."
J. Paul Jones Hospital is the only hospital in Wilcox County.
