Univ. of Alabama head football coach Nick Saban is waiting to hear the pending decision of Marcell Dareus' eligibility after he had possible contact with a sports agent. Saban said at SEC Media Days that measures need to be taken concerning sports agents to prevent temptations for college athletes.

Dareus, who is a junior defensive lineman, is being investigated by the NCAA for allegedly attending an agent party over the summer. The investigation surrounds who financed a trip to the party in Miami and who paid for transportation, lodging, food and entertainment.

Montgomery sports attorney Donald Jackson says agents are not violating NCAA rules by talking with athletes. But the athletes cannot accept gifts, money or enter into prospective representation or agreements.

"This is not a matter of sequestering the player. It's a matter of who should be more responsible, a 20-year-old player or a 40-year-old man who is supposed to be a professional," Saban said at SEC Media Days in Hoover.

For now, we are waiting to hear from The University of Alabama on whether Dareus will be declared ineligible to play.
