Malcolm Cyrus rushed for a career-high 241 yards and two touchdowns as Alabama State defeated Prairie View 48-42 in overtime in a key Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday.

Cyrus's 7-yard touchdown run on the first possession in overtime for Alabama State (5-2, 5-1 SWAC) came after Prairie View's Christopher Barrick missed a 36-yard field goal to open the extra session.

Prairie View (4-3, 3-2) sent the game to overtime with a touchdown pass from Jerry Lovelocke to Courtney Brown with 20 seconds remaining in regulation.

Cyrus busted an 80-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and Isaiah Crowell added two rushing touchdowns for the Hornets. Crowell, Alabama State's starter, carried just seven times for 51 yards as he nursed an injury.

Lovelocke finished 42 of 62 with a career-high 533 yards passing, four touchdown passes and a rushing TD.
