The Auburn Tigers head into the Southeastern Conference tournament on one of the worst stretches in program history but still expressing optimism about the future.

Third-year coach Tony Barbee says he remains "excited about the foundation" he's built. Junior guard Chris Denson said Monday it's just a matter of young players maturing and buying into the things Barbee preaches.

The program's woes were a hotter topic during media interviews than the Tigers' opening Southeastern Conference tournament game Wednesday night against Texas A&M in Nashville, Tenn.

They've lost 15 of 16 games for the first time in 67 years and finished last in the league.

Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs has not commented on Barbee's job security and the coach says they haven't discussed anything beyond the upcoming game.
