Biscuits Defeat Smokies 3-2

It was Bark in the Park day at Riverwalk Stadium and the Biscuits put on a good show, defeating the Tennessee Smokies 3-2.

Montgomery only had 2 hits on the night but it proved to be enough offense for the victory. Tyler Bortnick hit a line drive home run in the second inning to give Montgomery a 1-0 lead. Brett Nommensen would later walk and Greg Sexton entered to do some more damage against Tennessee starter Nick Struck by blasting a two-run home run.

Joe Cruz allowed two runs on four hits in 5.1 innings to earn his first victory since April 24. Kirby Yates recorded his seond save of the season by striking out three batters over the final two innings to preserve the victory for Montgomery.

The Biscuits will send Matt Buschmann to the mound on Monday night as they continue their series against the Tennessee Smokies. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 from Riverwalk Stadium.
