Jones to the DL...Liriano back in the rotation...Game 7 for Sixers and CelticsATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves have announced that Chipper Jones has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a bruised left leg. He injured the leg on May 18 and missed seven straight starts. The 40-year-old, who is playing in his final season, is hitting .307 with five home runs and 24 RBIs. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Francisco Liriano (leer-ee-AH'-noh) is headed back to the Twins' rotation. Manager Ron Gardenhire says the left-hander is moving out of the bullpen and will start Wednesday against Oakland. Liriano was demoted to the bullpen May 9 after going 0-5 with a 9.45 ERA in six starts. BOSTON (AP) — Win, or go home. That's the bottom line to this evenings NBA playoff game between the Celtics and 76ers. The best of seven series is all knotted up at three wins apiece. The winner advances to the Eastern Conference final. MONACO (AP) — Mark Webber will start tomorrow's Monaco Grand Prix from the pole. In fact, Michael Schumacher posted the fastest time in qualifying, but a penalty from a previous race cost him the pole and he will start from the sixth position. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Susie Wheldon received a long standing ovation Saturday during the public driver meeting for the Indianapolis 500. Dan Wheldon's wife accepted a replica of the Borg Warner trophy on behalf of the two-time Indianapolis winner. He was killed in a crash during the October season finale race at Las Vegas. Susie Wheldon held her 3-year-old son, Sebastian, while accepting the trophy. |
