Watson hoping to learn from US OpenLYTHAM ST. ANNES, England (AP) — Bubba Watson is trying something new at the British Open. He wants to play it safe. The Masters champion his hopeful of improving on his performance at the U.S. Open, where he played the opening two rounds with Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson and missed the cut. He says he paid close attention to how they worked their way around The Olympic Club in an effort to keep the ball in the fairway. Watson played 18 holes Monday before the rain arrived, and he found himself hitting mostly irons off the tee. Royal Lytham & St. Annes offers two big hazards this week for the Open — the 206 bunkers and grass so high from a wet spring that even the spotters are having trouble finding errant shots. |
