Over 1 million expected to watch Colo. bike raceDURANGO, Colo. (AP) — Organizers of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge estimate that more than 1 million people will line Colorado roads this week to watch some of the world's top cyclists. The nearly 700-mile race starts Monday at 10 a.m. in Durango. Cyclists will ride through Mancos and Dolores, over Lizard Head Pass and end in Telluride by around 4 p.m. The Durango Herald (bit.ly/OQxr4X) reports that it's the biggest event the city has ever hosted. City manager Ron Le-Blanc is encouraging people to show up along the route, make a lot of noise and wear a costume, if possible. The race ends Sunday in Denver. |
