ATLANTA (AP) — Clemson's last game was a total embarrassment. The 14th-ranked Tigers open the season tonight against Auburn in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta. Clemson won the Atlantic Coast Conference title a year ago, but the season ended with a humiliating 70-33 loss to West Virginia in the Orange Bowl.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas will take the field for the first time in the post-Bobby Petrino era when it hosts Jacksonville State today. The No. 10 Razorbacks were 11-2 last season, but they enter the game with a new feel following Petrino's firing in April. The opener will mark new coach John L. Smith's first game as a head coach since 2006 at Michigan State.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Michigan Wolverines are trying to prove they're back. No. 2 Alabama wants to show it's not going anywhere. The eighth-ranked Wolverines and defending national champion Crimson Tide meet tonight at Cowboys Stadium in Texas.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Michigan coach Brady Hoke has suspended starting running back Fitzgerald Toussaint and reserve defensive end Frank Clark for tonight's opener against Alabama. Hoke says both players wouldn't travel to Texas. Toussaint pleaded guilty Tuesday to drunken driving. Clark is accused of taking a laptop from a dorm room.
