NEW YORK (AP) — Men's top seed Roger Federer takes on Fernando Verdasco in the third round of the U.S. Open. Third seed Andy Murray and No. 6 Tomas Berdych (TOH'-mahs bur-DEEK') are also scheduled to play today, as are women's fourth seed Serena Williams and No. 2 Agnieszka Radwanska (ag-NAY'-skah rahd-WAHN'-skah). NORTON, Mass. (AP) — Seung-Yul Noh was the leader heading into the second round of the PGA's Deutsche (DOY'-chuh) Bank Open near Boston. Noh opened with a 9-under-par 62 that puts him one stroke ahead of Chris Kirk and two in front of Tiger Woods, Jeff Overton and Ryan Moore. Woods' 64 is his lowest opening-round score in three years. BALTIMORE (AP) — The IndyCar circuit is in Maryland this week for the Grand Prix of Baltimore. They'll hold pole qualifying for Sunday's race this evening. Will Power won last year's inaugural race through the downtown streets of Charm City and he leads this year's point standings with two races left. |
