ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons are halfway through a perfect season. The Falcons improved to 8-0 and stayed the only unbeaten team in the NFL by beating Dallas 19-13 as Matt Ryan completed 24 of 34 for 342 yards and Matt Bryant kicked four field goals.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — In NFL Monday night football, Drew Brees and the 2-and-5 New Orleans Saints host the 3-and-4 Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacked by Michael Vick.

NEW YORK (AP) — A secret bargaining session over the weekend may signal a thaw in the NHL labor fight. Deputy commissioner Bill Daly and players' association special counsel Steve Fehr met Saturday at an undisclosed location. Daly, in an email to the Associated Press, says they are planning to get together again early this week.
