JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Bassfield romped over Eupora 35-0 to claim the MHSAA Class 2A state championship yesterday. Jerome Keys rushed for 150 yards on 18 carries. It was the fifth state title in Bassfield's history.
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Tevin Moore scored on a 19-yard run with 2:11 remaining in the fourth quarter yesterday to lead Stringer past French Camp 20-17. It's the first MHSAA Class 1A state championship for Stringer since 1992 and fourth in school history. Moore also scored on a 51-yard run in the third quarter and finished with a game-high 222 rushing yards on 29 carries.

BRANDON, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say a former assistant coach at two Rankin County schools faces charges related to allegedly inappropriate contact with a student. Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey said yesterday in a news release that 27-year-old Matthew Wilder had worked at McLaurin Attendance Center and Florence Middle School.
