OAKLAND (AP) — Tonight's NFL game is being played in Oakland, where the Raiders take on Denver. This is a game of two teams going in opposite directions. The Broncos, who have wrapped up the AFC West, have won seven straight, while the Raiders have dropped five in a row.
UNDATED (AP) — Just two games are on tap in the NBA this evening. In Miami the top two clubs in the East are squaring off as the Heat entertain the Knicks. The second game features a pair of Western Conference clubs as Phoenix plays host to Dallas.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Lakers beat the Hornets last night 103-87 and in the process Kobe Bryant became the fifth player in NBA history to score 30,000 points. He needed 13 points to reach the plateau and in doing so became the youngest player to reach the mark. The 34-year-old joins the select company of Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone and Michael Jordan.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Sixth-ranked Florida knocked off arch-rival Florida State last night in men's basketball, 72-47. The win gives the Gators a record of 7-0. Kenny Boynton and Mike Rosario led the way by scoring 14 points each.
NEW YORK (AP) — Hall of Famer Barry Larkin says steroid users should not be admitted to the Cooperstown shrine. The former Cincinnati shortstop told The Associated Press in a phone interview that players who cheat shouldn't receive baseball's highest individual honor.
