PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The 112th Army-Navy game is set for Philadelphia today with the Army Cadets hoping for a turn of their fortunes in the clash of the service academies. Navy has won the last 10 meetings, the longest winning streak by either side in this storied rivalry.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Kevin Durant scored 36 and Russell Westbrook poured in 33 points -- including 27 in the first half -- in helping the Thunder to their seventh straight victory, 114-108 over the L.A. Lakers. Kobe Bryant scored 35 for the Lakers, who cut a 19-point lead to four in the final minute but never got any closer.
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) — Joakim (JOH'-kihm) Noah had 30 points and 23 rebounds, setting career highs in both categories in helping the Chicago Bulls beat the Detroit Pistons for the 16th straight time, 108-104 last night. Chicago trailed by as many as 17 points in the second quarter, but the Bulls rallied as all five Chicago starters reached double figures.
NEW YORK (AP) — Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o (MAN'-ty TAY'-ow) is hoping to add the Heisman Trophy to go along with the Walter Camp and Maxwell awards he already has won this week. The Heisman Trophy ceremony is tonight with Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel and Kansas State signal-caller Collin Klein Te'o's main opposition.
LAS VEGAS (AP) —Manny Pacquiao (PAK'-ee-ow) and Juan Manuel Marquez meet tonight in the boxing ring for the fourth — and presumably last — time in the rivalry that has served both fighters so well. Pacquiao has won two and fought to a draw in the previous closely contested 36 rounds.
