ATLANTA (AP) — R.J. Hunter scored 21 points as Georgia State broke open a close game with a dominant second half to defeat Southern Polytechnic 86-58 Saturday. There were four ties and seven lead changes in the first half, with the Panthers (5-4) leading 37-35 at the break.

PLANTATION, Fla. (AP) — Taylor Townsend of Stockbridge, Ga., has become the first American girl in 30 years to finish No. 1 in the year-end world junior rankings. The 16-year-old Townsend lost to seventh-seeded Ana Konjuh of Croatia 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 Saturday in the semifinals of the Orange Bowl International Tennis Championships in Florida.
