ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons are trying to reach the Super Bowl for the second time when they play Colin Kaepernick (KAP'-ur-nihk) and the San Francisco 49ers for the NFC championship (3 p.m. Eastern). Oddsmakers have installed the Niners as a field-goal favorite.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass (AP) — The Baltimore Ravens hope to reach the Super Bowl and extend storied linebacker Ray Lewis's career when they meet Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in an AFC title game rematch (6:30 p.m. Eastern). The Patriots are rated about a nine-point favorite.

UNDATED (AP) — Two people with knowledge of the situation say Oregon has promoted offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich to head football coach, replacing Chip Kelly. Kelly stepped down at Oregon on Wednesday to coach the Philadelphia Eagles.

PHOENIX (AP) — Player development director Lindsey Hunter has been named interim coach of the Phoenix Suns, who've lost 13 of 15 and fired Alvin Gentry. The 40-year-old Hunter played 17 seasons in the NBA but this is his first coaching gig.

LA QUINTA, Calif. (AP) — Scott Stallings takes a five-stroke lead into the final round of the Humana Challenge, putting him position for his third PGA Tour victory. John Rollins is among those tied for second as the leaders begin play in the California desert.
