(AP) — Augustine Rubit posted his second straight double-double and 11th of the season to power South Alabama past Sun Belt Conference-foe Florida International 60-58 Sunday for its third straight win. Rubit finished with 13 points and 12 boards, Antoine Allen 11 and Barrington Stevens 10 for South Alabama. Barrington's third 3-pointer of the game put South Alabama ahead 57-56 with 3:29 left to play.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Ryan Anderson scored 22 points, connecting on seven 3-pointers, and the New Orleans Hornets beat the Memphis Grizzlies 91-83 on Sunday. Anderson hit 7 of 13 from the field, all of his attempts coming from outside the arc. He capped a late New Orleans surge that put the game out of reach, snapping Memphis' two-game winning streak.
ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Jasmine Hassell scored 13 points and 10 different players scored for No. 14 Georgia as the Bulldogs beat Southeastern Conference-rival Florida 69-52 in women's college action Sunday. Tiaria Griffin scored 12 points and Krista Donald had 11 for Georgia (17-3, 5-2), which rebounded strongly from a 64-46 loss to No. 20 Texas A&M on Jan. 20.
OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — The Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers both bring hard-hitting defense to next Sunday's Super Bowl. The 49ers' defense ranked third this season in points allowed at 15.5 while the Ravens gave up 20 points though they were missing Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs for several stretches during the season.
