UNDATED (AP) — The Grizzlies have sent swingman Rudy Gay and backup center Hamed Haddadi to the Raptors for point guard Jose Calderon and forward Ed Davis. Calderon was then shipped to the Pistons for Austin Daye and Tayshaun Prince. Gay is averaging 17.2 points and 5.9 rebounds this season and is due $37 million for the next two seasons.
SCOTTSDALE, Az. (AP) — Professional golfer Vijay Singh says a Sports Illustrated report about his purchase of deer-antler spray is correct but says he had no idea it contained a substance banned by the PGA Tour's Anti-Doping Policy. The same article says Baltimore linebacker Ray Lewis asked the same company for help while recovering from a torn triceps. The Ravens linebacker says that isn't true.
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — An NHL official tells The Associated Press that prospective owner Greg Jamison is unlikely to complete a deal to buy the team from the league before a lease agreement with the City of Glendale expires on Thursday. The official says that, barring a last-minute change, the former CEO of the San Jose Sharks won't have the money or investors in place to meet the deadline. Last year, Jamison and Glendale officials reached a 20-year, $324 million lease deal that was reworked in November.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels and reliever Kevin Jepsen have agreed to a one-year contract worth $1,181,250, avoiding arbitration. The hard-throwing right-hander returned to an important role in the Halo's bullpen last year after missing much of the 2011 season with a knee injury. He went 3-2 with a 3.02 ERA.
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Jerry Sandusky isn't getting the new trial he asked for. He'd argued that his lawyers weren't given enough time to prepare for the proceeding that ended with a 45-count guilty verdict. Judge John Cleland issued a 27-page order saying Sandusky's lawyers conceded that their post-trial review turned up no material that would have changed their trial strategy.
